Discover Improv: A Six Week Introductory Class Series for the BIPOC Community

Tue, October 29, 2024 @ 7:00 PM EDT + 5 more • Starting from $125.00

Unlock your creativity, build confidence, and connect with others through the art of improvisation! This introductory improv class is designed specifically for members of the BIPOC community, offering a supportive and inclusive environment to explore the world of improv.

The series will consist of six two-hour classes as well as a showcase on a Friday night.

Led by Brandon Rhodes, an experienced improviser with five years of teaching, directing, and performing experience, this class will equip you with the tools to navigate any improv scene. Brandon’s journey into improv began as a way to see if he was funny, but he quickly found that improv created a unique space of acceptance, creativity, and personal growth—especially for people of color. Now, as an introvert who has used improv to navigate life and relationships more deeply, Brandon brings his passion and insight to this transformative experience.

What You’ll Learn:
  • Master the core principle of "Yes, and"—the foundation of all improv.
  • Develop confidence in entering and building scenes from the ground up.
  • Learn how to take care of both the scene and your scene partners in a supportive, collaborative way.
  • Gain tools that will help you navigate everyday social situations with greater ease and creativity.
  • By the end of the course, you’ll be equipped to confidently perform in an improv scene, backed by a strong understanding of our core values. We teach improv based on the Five Tenets of Improvisation, developed by Happy Valley Improv, which focus on discovery, collaboration, and non-judgmental participation.

Join us to build your improv skills in an open, judgment-free space where your voice matters and your creativity shines. Whether you're new to improv or looking to grow your skills, this class is a perfect place to start.

Spaces are limited—sign up today!
